Welcome to our Website. We are just getting
started in the alpaca business and wanted to share our journey to the future. We
are located in Remsen, NY, located in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains
in Central New York. It’s a great place to live. We invite you to click on the
“Joseph’s Journey” tab and read about our journey. We will be updating that
story as we move.
Beaver Meadow Farm will provide stud and boarding services as well as sale of
quality huacaya alpacas and a full line of alpaca products. We are members of
the Farm Bureau of Oneida County, the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association
(AOBA), the Empire Alpaca Association (EAA) and also are associated with the New
York State Department of Agriculture’s Pride of New York program.
Our foundation herd consists of five pregnant females, three males and two
gelded alpacas. Their pictures and a short descriptive summary can be found at
the “Our Herd” tab. This tab will also be updated as the herd grows both though
births and future purchases. The cria (babies) will begin to arrive in June and
we will have births through September. Alpacas have a gestation cycle of
approximately 11 months and tend to stay pregnant most of their lives. For more
information concerning alpacas we have provided a link to AOBA and EAA.
We are also building our farm store. Alpaca products will be available here at
the farm or can be ordered through the website. We are also working with local
spinners and cooperatives to develop the business and advance the use of alpaca
fiber.
We hope you enjoyed your visit to our website and invite you to come back
frequently to watch us grow. We will be updating the site with pictures and
lessons learned as we build a couple of barns, develop pastures and put up
fences. Please feel free to contact us and come visit. We love to show our
alpacas and will be happy to share our experiences.
